One of the most beautiful promenades in the Upper Adriatic.

A real open-air museum that can be visited all year round, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful promenades in the Upper Adriatic: we are talking about the Scogliera Viva (Living Cliff) in Caorle, with its stones sculpted by internationally renowned artists.

Every two years, usually during the month of June, the international sculpture competition is held, instituted by the municipality of Caorle in 1993 and now in its 20th edition: a unique event for sculptors from all over the world, who come to the city to enrich with their works this cliff created to defend the town by the sea.

Animals, people, emotions: there are so many motifs and subjects carved into the blocks of Euganean trachyte (typical of the area), which have transformed the Living Cliff into an art gallery not to be missed by those who visit Caorle and its magnificents.

Enjoy a romantic walk along Caorle’s Scogliera Viva.

The bright colours of the sunset, the sound of the waves breaking on the rocks and the fascinating Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Angelo in the background: the Scogliera Viva Caorle is a truly suggestive place for a regenerating morning walk or a romantic promenade at sunset.

Starting from the Hotel Unico, walk along Lungomare Venezia in an easterly direction along the beautiful west beach with its bathing establishments and fashionable clubs.
In less than 15 minutes you’ll reach Caorle Scogliera Viva (Living Cliff), which connects the west beach to the east beach; stroll along and admire the many works of art inlaid on the breakwater rocks, and without even realising it you’ll find yourself at Piazza Vescovado, with its imposing Romanesque bell tower.

Continue your walk for a few more minutes along the cliffs to reach the ancient Sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Angelo, which you can already make out in the distance.

This is a small wooden church with three naves, built in 1751 on the remains of a 6th or 7th century religious building. Originally dedicated to St Michael the Archangel, it is now a place of pilgrimage for people from all over the world. Don’t miss a visit to its interior, before concluding your walk with a visit to the historic centre of Caorle and returning to the Hotel Unico for a special aperitif by the pool.
